Cannibal Corpse - Video Posted Online

A video of the song 'Death Walking Terror' from the album 'Kill' has been posted online at Yahoo! Music.

Cannibal Corpse bassist Alex Webster previously told MTV.com about the song choice for the new album.

"Every one of our songs has some kind of violent or dark imagery in it, but we have to look for songs that are a little less graphic. We only have a couple of songs on each record where the lyrics aren't more or less R-rated for violence. We have to carefully choose what songs we do videos for, because otherwise it won't make it passed the censors. The song 'Murder Worship', I think all of us would have liked to have done a video for that. But there's no way, with the decapitated heads and all."

Cannibal Corpse - Australian Tour Sparks Outrage

The West Australian newspaper reported in its July 8 edition that Cannibal Corpse's October concert in Perth, Australia has sparked calls for the band to be banned over its alleged glorification of "child rape, suicide, murder and necrophilia" in its lyrics. Community groups have joined shadow police minister Rob Johnson in calling for Cannibal Corpse to be stopped from appearing at Club Capitol on October 10.

Cannibal Corpse, who played in Perth in 1995, has songs such as "Dismembered and Molested", and "Necropedophile", which details "the pleasure gained from killing, then raping, children." In the past 16 years, the group has released 14 albums, many of which are available at music stores throughout Perth.

Mr. Johnson said he was disgusted by the band's highly explicit songs. "They should be banned from appearing here," he said. "There is enough violence and youth suicide in West Australia already without any encouragement from awful groups like this. I feel sick at the thought of those lyrics being sung to the youth of WA." Australian Family Association vice-president Gillian Gonzalez said Cannibal Corpse have the most offensive lyrics she had ever seen. "They are absolutely vile and should not be allowed into the country" she said.

Attorney-Gerneral Jim McGinty did not comment on whether the group should be banned from playing and said outfits like Cannibal Corpse thrived off negative publicity.

Cannibal Corpse tour of Australia/New Zealand:

Oct. 03 - The Hifi Bar - Melbourne, AUS
Oct. 04 - The Gaelic Club - Sydney, AUS
Oct. 05 - The Arena - Brisbane, AUS
Oct. 06 - 420 - Auckland, NZ
Oct. 07 - Indigo Bar - Wellington, NZ
Oct. 09 - Fowlers Live - Adelaide, AUS
Oct. 10 - Club Capitol - Perth, AUS

The company planning the tour have made it official that Tasmanian Death Metal band Psycroptic and Western Australian Metallers Plague will be supporting Cannibal Corpse when they come to Australia. Ulcerate will be with them for the two New Zealand shows. Psycroptic have supported such acts as Cryptopsy in the past.

Cannibal Corpse - Regarding 2nd guitarplayer

The official website of Cannibal Corpse tells us the following regarding the second guitarplayer:

"We'd like announce that Rob Barrett, who as you all know played guitar with Cannibal Corpse from 1993 to 1997 and appeared on "the Bleeding" and "Vile" albums, will be rejoining the band for our performance at the Northwest Death Fest in Seattle on April 3rd.

Whether or not Rob will be staying with the band permanently after that show is still not certain, but so far we're very happy to have Rob back in the fold. We'll post an update when we know for sure if Rob is permanently rejoining or not.

We also would like to say thank you to Jeremy Turner for doing an amazing job playing guitar with us on "The Wretched Spawn" tour in 2004. Jeremy really helped us out in a tight spot, and we wish him the best in his future musical endeavors".

Jack Owen has left Cannibal Corpse....

Guitarist Jack Owen has quit the band. Cannibal Corpse is currently working with a replacement. All scheduled concerts will still take place. Check back for a more detailed statement in the days to come.

2004-05-03 - Jack Owen
"After 15 years with Cannibal Corpse, I've decided to leave the group. My heart just wasn't in it anymore, and it was reflected in my appearance on stage. Times change, and I just don't enjoy the music as much as I used to, and the only thing keeping me in the band was steady work, and the pay. These things makes it unfair to myself, my band members, and especially the fans. I'd like to thank all the members of Cannibal Corpse, past and present, for sharing in the conquest of an entire genre of music. I wish the band continued success...

I would especially like to thank the fans for being there for 15 years. Without you, I wouldn't have made it this far. Your dedication to death metal is unbelievable.

I am going to continue in music, of course, with Adrift. I'd like to thank them for their patience and understanding, and support of my decision. We will meet again, I'm sure..

Cheers,
Jack Owen

CANNIBAL CORPSE have confirmed the title of their forthcoming album as The Wretched Spawn. The album is due out through Metal Blade in late February. The Wretched Spawn was recorded at Sonic Ranch, located just outside of El Paso, TX with producer Neil Kernon.

The album features the following tracklisting (not in order): 'Severed Head Stoning', 'Psychotic Precision', 'Decency Defiled', Frantic Disembowelment', 'Rotten Body Landslide', 'Cyanide Assassin', 'Festering In The Crypt', 'Nothing Left To Mutilate', 'Blunt Force Castration', 'The Wretched Spawn', 'Slain', 'Bent Backwards And Broken' and 'They Deseve To Die'.

Kernon had the following to say about the end result: "It's always fun to work with Cannibal, and I think this album is turning out way more brutal than their last one (Gore Obsessed)."

Bassist Alex Webster commented: "We definitely feel that we managed to surpass the heaviness of Gore Obssessed. We've outdone it for sure."

Cannibal Corpse

The masters of death metal, Cannibal Corpse, recently reached the one million mark for combined sales of all their albums. This is a great achievement not only for the band and label but also for all death metal bands out there. It is not very often a truly heavy metal band reaches the Platinum mark and it just goes to show that it is possible. Cannibal Corpse is one of the most prominent death metal bands ever unleashed upon the scene and have not let up since they started in 1990. Only a truly remarkable band such as Cannibal Corpse can continue to reach their fans and still mean something to the death and heavy metal world...and reaching the one million mark proves it! So big congratulations go out to Cannibal Corpse from all their friends and fans here at Metal Blade!
